Our homeschool compliance association requires that we give our school a name.  I have no idea why.   We thought about all kinds of names — religious or not, including the word "homeschool" or not, choosing a name based on our city, our street, our landscaping (Maple? Oak? Lantana?), our curriculum, etc.
We decided we wanted something that didn’t shout rightwing-religious-fanatics-living-in-a-compound.  We didn’t even really want it to be overly homeschool-y.  The sort of name that a college admissions officer wouldn’t especially notice when reading a transcript.  But we still wanted a name that captured the essence of our family.   We ended up with Greencastle School.
It is named after our jungle gym.
